America’s Test Kitchen Healthy Family Cookbook giveaway!

ATK Healthy Family Cookbook

I’ve been enjoying my copy of The America’s Test Kitchen Healthy Family Cookbook from America’s Test Kitchen, but I don’t want to keep it all to myself – so I’m giving away a copy! To make things even sweeter, this book has been signed by Chris Kimball! I wish I could say that I had one for everyone, but I have only one copy to give away to a lucky reader. To read a full review of the book, check out this post.

To enter the contest, leave a comment with your favorite America’s Test Kitchen recipe – whether it was from Cook’s Illustrated, Cook’s Country or one of their many cookbooks – below. If you can’t choose just one, you can always try making the Everyday Cinnamon Rolls, which just might be an instant favorite as a lighter, healthier version of gooey cinnamon rolls! The contest ends tonight at midnight and the winner will be randomly selected from the entries. Don’t forget to fill in your e-mail on the comment form (it will not be public), as that is how I will contact the winner, and good luck!

Update: Comments are closed. Thanks for participating, everyone! Congrats to Debby of A Feast for the Eyes, who was chosen as the winner!

My favorite recipe is “St. Louis-Style Pizza.” I love how easy the crust is to make. It is like a crispy cracker. I can get dinner on the table in half an hour with this recipe!

I haven’t made them yet, but I really want to make the cinnamon rolls this weekend; I know they will be a favorite.

The best thing we have gotten from America’s Test kitchen isn’t so much a recipe, but rather a method for grilling steak. We watched an episode where they pre-warmed the steaks in an oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes, then grill them to medium-rare. It makes the juiciest steaks every time!

We make Braised Cod Peperonata (a variation of Braised Cod Provcal) in the America’s Test Kitchen Family Cookbook about 2 to 3 times a month. It’s so delicious, simple and healthy. We typically serve over quinoa and sometimes add calamata olives.

My family loves using our America’s Test Kitchen Family Cookbook! Just last night we had the Skillet Tuna Noodle casserole. One pan, fast, and creamy without the cream of whatever soup (yuck!). It doesn’t get better than that. I can’t wait to try their healthy recipies!

There are so many great ATK recipes that I can’t really pick a single favorite. One we’ve been enjoying a lot lately is the Foolproof Thin-Crust Pizza recipe from the latest issue (December2010/January 2011). It really does make for a fantastic pizza crust. Their Best Blueberry Muffins recipe from May/June 2009 is also a real winner… easily the best blueberry muffins I’ve ever had.

I love one of the brownie recipes from a Cook’s Illustrated. I think it’s the Chewy Brownie recipe that is supposed to have just the right amount of chew and not be too fudgy. It calls for extra chocolate to bump up the chocolate flavor and a little bit of baking powder. It’s really a great recipe, so good that one day my daughter wanted to use it to impress a new boyfriend that is now her husband! I wonder if the brownies had anything to do with that!
