I’ve mentioned laser-cut cupcake wrappers before, and while I have my objections to the fact that you can’t bake directly in them – partially because they’re so holey that they couldn’t hold the batter even if you wanted to bake in them – it’s hard to deny that they make for a beautiful presentation. I particularly like these Picket Fence Cupcake Wrappers. The wrap-around fence makes for a beautiful presentation, and the detailing of flowers and grass along the bottom edge of the wrapper is quite impressive. While you can’t bake in these, they would look beautiful at a spring dinner party or an easter brunch – you could even use them to serve muffins. A slightly more formal occasion (or at least something more than your average sit-around-and-read-the-newspaper breakfast at home) is a great excuse to get these out, and they’re an easy way to dress up a presentation without doing too much work.

March 20, 2009Very pretty but it is a shame it is only used for display. You feel like it is an investment like fondant that will be tossed instead of used. I guess we have to expect that with food presentation. No different than a pretty plate or cake board that gets tossed after the cake is eaten. Or a cake box to present it well instead of aluminum foil cap. 🙂
