Irish cream is one of my favorite liqueurs. In fact, I have even been known to make my own Homemade Irish Cream around St Patrick’s Day. The sweet, creamy liqueur has a hints of chocolate, coffee and vanilla in it – along with a generous amount of Irish whiskey – and it is an excellent flavoring for coffee drinks and baked goods, pairing particularly well with chocolate. Over at the Craftsy blog, I’m sharing my easy recipe for Homemade Irish Cream Truffles (it’s free!). The truffles use milk chocolate as a base, as milk chocolate pairs well with the liqueur without overpowering it, and the resulting chocolates are flavorful and amazingly creamy.
Instead of coating them with a layer of cocoa powder, as I often do for other hand-rolled truffles, I finished these off by rolling them in green jimmies to give them a bit of texture and a pop of color for St Patrick’s Day. Feel free to get creative with finishing touches when you’re making simple treats like truffles to dress them up for other occasions, too!

March 17, 2015Loving the green sprinkles! I went for cocoa powder in the end – I like how it balances out the sweetness of the finished truffles. Off to Craftsy now to check out your recipe …
