Merry Mixer Giveaway!

Merry Mixer Ornament

I was at Hallmark the other day picking up Christmas cards, and I stopped to peruse their holiday ornament selection. Over the past couple of years, the store has been adding more foodie-themed ornaments to their collection and this year they have the perfect one for bakers: a miniature stand mixer! The ornament, which is dated 2010, is bright red and has a cute retro look to it. The mixer doesn’t have an movable parts, but it’s not difficult to picture the little paddle attachment mixing up a batch of cookie dough. The ornament is called the Merry Mixer, and I picked two up while I was there, one for my Christmas tree and one to give away to a lucky reader!

To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment below with your favorite food-related holiday present – one you’ve either given or received – before Thursday at 12pm PST. One winner will be chosen at random and I’ll ship the ornament out asap. Be sure to leave your e-mail address in the comment form (it won’t be visible on the site) so that I can contact the winner.

For more gift ideas, check out my 2010 Holiday Gift Guide for Bakers or pick up a copy of The Baking Bites Cookbook! And don’t forget to enter your gingerbread creations into my Holiday Gingerbread Cookie Contest, too!

Update: Comments are now closed. Thanks for playing, everyone. The winner is Erin of Erin Cooks!

Coincidently, my fave food related gift is my Kitchenaid stand mixer I received 2 years ago. It makes baking so much easier and I’ve even overcome my fear of making homemade bread since it came with a dough hook.

Biscotti. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I never make it or buy it when I get coffee. But I love it.

Too cute! For Christmas last year, my mom refurbished a picnic basket and decked it out with plates, silverware and napkins. It still hasn’t been used but it’s so pretty just to look at!

It’s a small thing but my favorite food-related present is a nut chopper/pastry cutter/egg-salad maker/still finding things to use it for. My mom found it in a tiny kitchen store in my small hometown and it took me a while to find another one to give for a present. I’m not sure the recipients appreciate theirs as much as I love mine but it’s still one of my favorite gadgets in the kitchen and mine still looks like new even 10-12 years later. Thanks, Mom!

SO CUTE! A couple years ago, I had personalized aprons made for all the kids, and put them in baskets with kid spatulas & spoons. It was a great gift for cousins, etc., and my kids still wear theirs when we bake together.

And my husband always pulls through with something from Godiva…

Homemade springerle make great gifts. The beautifully carved springerle molds give such detail to the cookies that some people prefer to keep them as ornaments, rather than eat them.

I’m getting new T-fal skillets for Christmas – looked for the one you recommended but ended up getting one Sears had on sale. Handle is slipping on my old one and handle on new one has a screw, so hopefully it will last longer.

I think my favorite food related gift what the microplaner my husband gave me for Christmas last year. He had no idea what he was buying, he just knew he had heard me say how much I wanted one for zesting citrus! I thought is was very sweet of him!

That ornament is too stinkin’ cute. My favorite baking gift to give is a boxed roll of disposable pastry bags along with a plain and star tip. It’s a lifetime supply for the average home baker, and enables people to make a lot of recipes they might not normally try if it meant having to buy a pastry bag. Cream puffs, duchess potatoes, meringues, etc. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. 🙂

I really enjoy giving (and getting, by the way) peppermint bark–it’s a mixture of almond bark and peppermint sticks. So tasty!

My favorite food related holiday present is the cookie and candy platters that my mom and I give out to family and friends at Christmas time every year. We spend a whole week just baking and candy making, and I just love giving huge platters of our hard work to the people we love. So much fun!

I’ve gotten a food processor as a gift for 3 different occasions. Every time I receive one as a gift it seems to just die on my in a very short amount of time. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the most recent one. It’s lasted the longest so far (5 months)!

So cute! I love to give my sister pretty sprinkles and cupcake liners, because she lives in Europe and can’t get them easily. For me, my favorite cooking gift to receive would have to be cookbooks. I have an obsession! (In a large part thanks to you – every time you review a cookbook I pop over to Amazon to add it to my wishlist, hehehe)
