The Baking Bites Gingerbread Cookie Contest is now at an end. Entries closed on the 18th and we now have a winner! Reader lisapeet’s Happy Puppy Xmas Cookies – each featuring a Santa-hat clad puppy in honor of her dog Milo – are taking the grand prize. They almost look too good to eat! Congrats lisapeet!
I want to give a huge, huge thank you and congratulations to everyone who participated in the contest. All of the cookies entered looked absolutely amazing. I hope that you all had as much fun baking and decorating them as I did looking at them, but hopefully you had even more.
With luck, this contest will not be the last you’ll see in the new year, though you will have to wait for a bit before the next one is announced. Until then, be sure to look at all the runners up in the Flickr pool, or simply read on to see some higlights here on this site. You might want to get a glass of milk ready, since looking at these cookies is sure to spark a craving for one or two of your own.

December 20, 2007I once received Valentine’s Day ginger cookies from Lisa, and they taste every bit as good as they look! Congratulations, Lisa!

December 20, 2007Congrats, lisapeet! Those puppies look absolutely INCREDIBLE, and I bow down in awe of your cookie-decorating powers. I made my first attempt at gingerbread last weekend, but didn’t have time to decorate and post to the contest. Needless to say, though, they were nothing like the winner and runner-ups!

December 20, 2007Thank you! I’m so honored. I’ve been making those doggie cookies for years — they’re definitely labors of love. I’ll post the gingerbread recipe on my blog later tonight if anyone’s interested.
Nicole, thanks so much for the props. Made my day, and I know little Milo is smiling down from doggie heaven (and all current critters in my household are smiling up from their spots in the kitchen, where they wait faithfully for dropped cookies).

December 20, 2007I didn’t think anyone could even approach your whimsey and skill with gingerbread cookies. But lisapeet is a kindred soul, to be sure! Her imagination and joy are clear. Her piping skill is extraordinary.
Congrats to all who were not intimidated by Nicole’s own talents! And Merry Christmas to all!
