Summer is quickly melting away and, while some might say that the season for ice cream is ending, I say that there is no reason to put those ice cream scoops into storage until next year. Ice cream is one food that might be good for cooling off, but it is good all year round. In this spirit, I’m hosting a quick little end-of-summer ice cream giveaway for my readers!
The prize is a goodie basket with some ice cream making essentials. It also includes my new favorite Zyliss ice cream scoop, but everything else is a surprise. The only things you’ll have to supply is the actual ice cream because it just doesn’t ship all that well in my experience – not without some fancy ice packs, anyway!
To play, just leave a comment below describing your favorite ice cream. Be specific! I want to know if your favorite is homemade, or a particular brand of ice cream from the market or from a particular store in your city. Gelato and sorbet are fair game, too, if those are at the top of your list. The contest is closing on Sunday, September 19th, so leave your comments before then. Be sure to leave your e-mail address (it won’t be published if you type it into the form) so I can contact a randomly selected winner on Sunday night! Good luck everyone!

September 18, 2010my absolute faaavorite ice cream is Ben and Jerry’s Peanut butter cup. OH. MY. GOD. I haven’t had it in forever, but to this day I can taste the creamy peanut butteryness of the ice cream with all the crunch peanut butter cups floating around, huuuge chunks, practically straight from the wrapper pieces… yum

September 18, 2010It’s so hard to pick which ice cream is my favorite. I think I love them all! But I guess my favorite store bought ice cream is Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia. However, my favorite home made ice cream is a simple kulfi made with cardamom, cream, almonds, raisins, and pistachios. Super easy and super tasty!

September 18, 2010With ice cream being perhaps my favorite food, this is a hard choice. A choice I’m unwilling to make, in fact. But some my better ice creams include a non-dairy carrot cake ice cream by So Delicious, nutella gelato in Italy, and my good ole’ standby Light Moose Tracks by Turkey Hill.

September 18, 2010My family’s new favorite ice cream is Blue Bunny’s Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. I’m sorry to say that this is as close to homemade ice cream as my family will ever get 🙂
Rose
September 18, 2010I love Graters Ice Cream, they are local to the Cincinnati/Northern KY area. My absolute favorite of theirs is the black raspberry chocolate chip, but their chocolate chips are more like huge chunks of dark chocolate 🙂

September 18, 2010My favorite ice cream is a simple vanilla cone that they sell in my dad’s town, is an artisan ice cream and the texture is out of this world and the vanilla flavor is really strong. Other than that, I love homemade Ice cream and lot of chunks!
Kelley Fountain
September 18, 2010My favorite is Ben & Jerry’s Chubby Hubby. Its the pretzel and peanut butter thing. I can no longer find it in the store and may be forced to create my own version.

September 18, 2010I just bought the ice cream attachment for my KA this summer, and have to say that homemade is FAR superior! I bought it so I didn’t have to worry about the limitations of our ice cream choices with a nut allergy in the family. My absolute fave so far is Chocolate Ice Cream – the David Lebovitz recipe. Soooo decadent and delicious!!

September 18, 2010I once had Ben and Jerry’s New York Super Chunk Fudge which was AWESOME, but my favorite place to but ice cream is Stawarts, a local chain-store specializing in dairy products, only found in northern NY and parts of VT. Their Mint Cookie Crumble is to die for; crushed chocolate wafer cookies and fudge swirled through smooth mint icecream! None of the hard chunks of chocolate in most mint chip icecreams have.

Jeni’s has some very unique flavors that you can’t find anywhere else, my favorite being Goat Cheese with Cherries. Graeter’s has amazing chocolate chunks in their ice cream making Coconut Chip a favorite.

September 18, 2010Oh my goodness!! Ice cream Ice Cream Ice Cream. I love it all, but my most favorite is…..Chubby Hubby. Yum yum.

September 18, 2010My favorite ice cream is homemade vanilla ice cream that we make when we go to my husband’s family’s lake house. It’s made with one of the old fashioned mixers that need salt and ice and take 1-2 hours to chill the ice cream. I only eat the ice cream the day it’s made because once it’s been in the freezer the consistency totally changes and it’s no longer creamy but almost icey and clumpy. Sometimes we will add fresh chocolate chips and strawberries but they really aren’t needed as just plain vanilla is so yummy!
Sandra
September 18, 2010I love Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough from Bruster’s which is a regional place here in Chattanooga, TN. They make it fresh every day. Super Yum!
