Fresh Box to keep baked goods fresher

Fresh Box

It’s always a good idea to keep baked goods stored in an airtight container to keep them as fresh as possible. An airtight container will keep cakes and breads from drying out and getting stale, extending the life of the food for at least a few days (and sometimes much longer). But unless you have baked goods with long shelf lives, such as biscotti, on your hands, you still have a fairly small window of time to enjoy your food.

The Fresh Box is one option that will definitely extend your storage time frame. The box itself is an attractive, airtight container that looks pretty similar to other cake and bread boxes. The Fresh Box, however, has a built-in vacuum pump that sucks the air and moisture out of the box once it is closed, keeping baked goods (or any foods, for that matter) fresher for a longer period of time by preventing staling and spoilage. The vacuum activates every time the lid to the box is sealed and works off both battery and AC power. It’s a neat gadget and a good one to have on hand if you do a lot of baking, but will probably be an even better buy if you only have two or three people eating baked goods in your home and frequently find that a cake will go stale before you are able to finish it.

It’s funny you blogged about this container. I was looking at catalogs today and ran up on that container and stopped and looked at it. I actually stopped and looked because I thought it had a cooler in the base. I’m always looking for ways to keep cakes or treats that are more temperature sensitive cooler when they have to sit out on a table at a party or a common table at work. Unfortunately this one is a vacuum option rather than a cooler option so I’ll continue to look. I rarely have the problem with stale since I take most things to work and they rarely last more than half a day on a table. Thanks for the great blog as always. I’m always telling folks how great your site is for all kinds of information as well as great recipes for baking!!
