Some might say it is a little early to be preparing for Halloween, but Halloween is such a fun time of year for baking and sweets that I don’t see the harm in jumping in a little bit early. My preparation always includes some time looking for Halloween-themed bakeware that will allow me to have a little extra fun when I’m making my favorite Halloween goodies. One new pan I spotted this year is the Nordic Ware Halloween Tombstone Cakelet Pan and it looks like it will yield some very creepy cakes!
The pan has cavities for six individual tombstone-shaped cakelets, each one unique in shape and design, but all equally fun. Each tombstone is a bit larger than your average cupcake and has a flat base, so the tombstones can be served standing up (if you’re using a dense cake, like a pound cake) or lying down. The designs will only be on one side of the cake, so be sure to serve them with their finished side towards your guests. The pan is made of heay duty cast aluminum and has a nonstick finish that will allow the cakes to release easily after baking. It also is adorned with some embossed cobwebs, so just looking at it will get you into the Halloween mood, too!
