I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge fan of soft pretzels and I enjoy them whenever I can, whether I’m at the mall picking one up from a pretzel chain or at a gastropub eating a more artisanal version. I also enjoy making soft pretzels at home, where I often use a little shortcut to save myself some time and get those pretzels in the oven much more quickly: I use pizza dough. Pizza dough is a lean dough that is very similar to the dough that you usually find in pretzel recipes. Ready made pizza dough can be found easily at most markets (Trader Joe’s always has it, as well as several other large chains in my area) and keeps well in the fridge for a few days so it is ready to use when you want it. Over on the Craftsy blog (it’s free!!), I’m sharing my recipe for Easy Pizza Dough Soft Pretzels. The process is quick and easy – and it yields deliciously chewy pretzels. I always finish mine with coarse salt, but you can use a seasoned salt (garlic is a good choice) or even cinnamon sugar to customize your pretzels!!
