  • The Homemade Haus tempted readers with a coffee cake that has many layers of flavor. This Chocolate & Mixed Berry Coffee Cake is loaded with a variety of juicy berries and swirled with Nutella. As if that weren’t enough, the tender cake is topped with a chocolate and cinnamon crumb topping that is good enough to eat without any cake under it. This is a fun brunch dice and a great change of pace from the usual coffee cake recipe.
  • The Cinnamon Pecan Twists from the Sweet and Simple Kitchen are another good brunch option. These homemade pastries are stuffed with a buttery mixture of pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. The pastry dough itself is homemade and pairs perfectly with the sweet filling. It might take you a few tries to get your twisting technique down pat, but your buns will taste good no matter how they look, so just set aside the “practice” buns for yourself!
  • Tres leches cake is a fluffy sponge cake that is soaked in three different types of milk to make it moist, sweet and tender. Kirbie’s Cravings Baked Tres Leches Donuts turn this classic cake into a bite-sized breakfast snack. Each individual donut hole is flavored with vanilla and nutmeg, just to give it a hint of flavor, but most of the flavor comes from the trese leches sauce – just as it does in the full sized cakes that inspired this recipe. The sauce is made with sweetened condensed milk, whole milk and heavy cream. The holes are infused with the sauce after baking, then confectioner’s sugar is added to the remaining sauce to turn it into a glaze and drizzled over the donuts before serving.
  • Hazelnut is a flavor that pairs very well with coffee and, while mocha and vanilla probably hold the top spots, it is one of the most popular coffee flavors out there. The Sugar Coated Cottage baked up a batch of Hazelnut Latte Ice Cream Sandwiches that capture this pairing perfectly. The cookies are chocolate chip and hazelnut, with just a hint of espresso added to the dough to capture the flavor of a latte. Chewy and flavorful, these cookies are sandwiched with vanilla ice cream and rolled in chopped hazelnuts before serving.
  • Cold brew coffee is hot right now because it is easy to make and delicious. Most recipes make a concentrated coffee that you can dilute with water, or add your favorite syrups or creamers to. Over at Brewed Daily, I shared a recipe for Cinnamon Cold Brew Coffee. This cold brew incorporates cinnamon sticks in with the coffee beans, slowly infusing the coffee with a warm, spicy cinnamon flavor as it steeps. The aroma of this coffee is just delicious – and all that added flavor almost completely eliminates the need for sweeteners. That said, this cold brew makes an outstanding iced mocha if you want to add in a little chocolate.
