  • Bananas, peanut butter and honey are a great combination, and that is certainly true in the Peanut Butter Banana and Honey Upside Down Cake that Sarah Eats Austin recently baked. The cake is a dense and buttery peanut butter pound cake that has just enough peanut butter in it to give it that savory note that makes peanut butter so addictive. The batter is poured on top of an upside down cake topping – meaning the topping is bat the bottom of the pan but ends up on top when the cake is flipped out – made with brown sugar, honey and bananas. It’s a simple combination but a very indulgent finished cake.
  • Peanut butter is also featured in Sprinkled With Flour‘s Peanut Butter S’mores Cookie Bars. These bars start with a cookie dough that has graham cracker crumbs incorporated into it in a nod to the traditional s’more that inspired the bars. The layer of cookie dough is topped with chocolate chips, peanut butter and marshmallows. It’s a combination that just might get a bit sticky as you eat, but the salty, sweet and gooey elements are good enough that you probably won’t mind getting your fingers covered with chocolate and peanut butter.
  • Boba, or bubble tea, is a popular asian drink where big balls of tapioca are added to smoothies, shakes and teas. The boba are slurped up through a straw to give you something to chew on while you drink – and as odd as it sounds at first, they are very addictive. Boulder Locavore made some Chai-Coconut Milk Boba Popsicles that turned this drink into a popsicle. The tea is made with chai concentrate and coconut milk, and it would be a refreshing popsicle with or without the boba, but fans of boba will tell you that you shouldn’t skip out on the fun, chewy tapioca balls in a treat like this.
  • Pineapple and Coconut‘s Crepe Suzette Cake is a showstopper. The towering cake is made up of 40 layers of orange scented crepes. They’re stacked up with orange butter sauce and pastry cream, which adds richness to the crepes and holds the whole tower together. The cake is not difficult to assemble, but you need to take your time while you work on it to ensure that the crepes are all about the same size and that you put them together carefully so that the finished cake is sturdy and stands on its own.
  • Shortbread is a great cookie to make when you want something both simple and satisfying and Milk and Honey‘s Lemon Sherbert Shortbread offers a summery twist on this classic. The buttery shortbread dough is made with a combination of regular flour and rice flour, which gives it a very crumbly texture and will give the shortbread the feeling of melting in your mouth. The sherbert here is the lemon sugar topping that has a strong, addictive lemon flavor that is created by grinding lemon zest in with sugar until all of the citrus fruit’s natural oils are released. The lemon sugar would be a nice finish to other lemon desserts, as well.
