The Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook giveaway!

The Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook
I’ve been enjoying my copy of The Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook, the newest cookbook from Chris Kimball and the rest of the team at America’s Test Kitchen. The huge book has more than 2000 recipes and was put out to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Cook’s Illustrated magazine. To read a full review of the book, check out this post. To do my own part in the celebration, I’m giving away a copy of the book to one lucky reader! .

To enter the contest, leave a comment below with your favorite Cook’s Illustrated recipe. Their exhaustively tested recipes always turn out a good product and almost everyone has at least one favorite that they turn to again and again. If you haven’t made any of their recipes before, just leave a comment with the recipe that you want to make most (since just about everything you could think of, with variations, is in here). The contest ends Friday, October 14th at midnight and the winner will be randomly selected from the entries. Don’t forget to fill in your e-mail on the comment form (it will not be public), as that is how I will contact the winner, and good luck!

Update: This contest is now closed. Congrats to Robert on winning the book and a huge thanks to everyone for participating and sharing your favorite recipes!

I have not had the opportunity to make any of their recipes but I like the looks of the pumpkin bourbon cheesecake, or any pumpkin recipe!

I’ve been wanting to try German Apple pancakes for a long time (is there such a thing as a TBB – to be baked- list?)

It’s hard to pick just one, but I would have to say the Italian Ricotta Pie – it really reminded me of my grandmothers and I have been trying to replicate her recipe for years!

Chicken Enchiladas. The cilantrohits this version out of the park. The insides are so good, we eat it straight from the bowl sometimes!

It’s impossible to pick just one favorite — probably at least 80% of all the recipes we make over and over again are theirs — but for now I’ll say their tinga (Mexican spicy shredded pork) with tostadas. Food that makes great leftovers means many happy lunches for me in the near future! =)

I don’t think I’ve tried any of their recipes. The Apple-Maple glazed chicken breasts looks interesting.

Their 60 minute lentil soup recipe is a grad student’s dream. Fast, cheap, quadruples well, and gets tastier as it ages.

I LOVE CI! And have at least liked if not loved all of the recipes I have tried so far so it would be hard to choose just one. However, the one I use by far the most often is their quick pizza dough recipe (I think it’s called 75-Minute Pizza Dough or something like that).

The CI recipe I’ve turned to in the past is their pie crust, specifically for an apple pie. I love their science-based approach to food. I’d love to add this to my bookshelf, and to share it with my grandma, who adores CI too!

I’ve made a few of their recipes. Currently have “Old-Fashioned Corn Muffins” on the to-be-made queue (recipe uses yeast instead of baking powder).
