The Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook giveaway!

The Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook
I’ve been enjoying my copy of The Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook, the newest cookbook from Chris Kimball and the rest of the team at America’s Test Kitchen. The huge book has more than 2000 recipes and was put out to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Cook’s Illustrated magazine. To read a full review of the book, check out this post. To do my own part in the celebration, I’m giving away a copy of the book to one lucky reader! .

To enter the contest, leave a comment below with your favorite Cook’s Illustrated recipe. Their exhaustively tested recipes always turn out a good product and almost everyone has at least one favorite that they turn to again and again. If you haven’t made any of their recipes before, just leave a comment with the recipe that you want to make most (since just about everything you could think of, with variations, is in here). The contest ends Friday, October 14th at midnight and the winner will be randomly selected from the entries. Don’t forget to fill in your e-mail on the comment form (it will not be public), as that is how I will contact the winner, and good luck!

Update: This contest is now closed. Congrats to Robert on winning the book and a huge thanks to everyone for participating and sharing your favorite recipes!

I don’t think there’s any Cook’s Illustrated recipe I’ve tried that hasn’t been perfect. (They’re so dang thorough!) But aside from the classics mentioned, I’d have to say learning how to stir fry — using a building block type recipe — has been my favorite thing from Cook’s Illustrated — In Quick Recipes.

I absolutely LOVE their Lemon-Cormeal Blueberry Pancakes. Despite how simple pancakes look, there is a trick and ATC nailed it with that recipe. In fact, I think I am going to go and whip up a batch right now!

I’ve never checked out the cooks Illustrated book. Not sure why. I LOVE the American Test Kitchen year in review books for not only their recipes but also all of the info on the best this and that. I’m looking for a really good brownie recipe so I think that is where I’d probably start with this book if I win.

I love the Cook’s Illustrated approach to developing recipes. I have tried quite a few winning ones. I love their corn chowder recipe. It makes a mess, but nothing preserves the flavor of fresh corn right off the cob like that chowder. I also just had some peanut-sesame noodles for lunch made from their recipe. They also taught be to brine chicken for broiled chicken parts, and I am never going back to regular un-brined chicken!
