If you go to a big supermarket, you’ll see two basic kinds of peanut butter: creamy and crunchy. If you’re lucky, you might also see a honey roasted flavor in the mix. But peanuts go with so many flavors that it actually seems a bit odd that there aren’t more flavored peanut butter options out there. Fortunately, however, a company called P.B. Loco makes more than enough to go around, and offers up peanut butter paired with all kinds of things, from Asian Curry Spice to Raspberry White Chocolate.
Their Peanut Butter with Jungle Banana is one flavor in particular that is creative and tasty. Peanut butter on bananas was one of my favorite after-school snacks as a kid and it didn’t seem in the least bit strange to get those two flavors together in one spoonful straight out the jar. The peanut butter is smooth and creamy, with strong flavors of both peanuts and bananas, and a nice toasted-nut flavor to the finish. It is excellent on bananas and would make a fantastic fluffernutter sandwich with marshmallow cream. This flavor also reminds me strongly of Elvis, since he will always be remembered as being a huge fan of fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches.

April 30, 2009I saw this company featured on Food Network, I believe it was on Unwrapped. All of their flavors looked so good! I also love how you can order all kinds of yummy sandwiches at their shop. I am jealous that you were able to try one!

April 30, 2009Looks delicious. I love PB and bananas–always have. Though I don’t fry my sandwiches. I usually don’t bother with bread at all–just schmear PB on the banana. A little off the subject but Trader Joe’s has a great new PB. It has flaxseeds in it. You get some extra nutrition and I love the slight crunch that makes it pleasant to eat. Not as crunchy as crunchy PB but more chewy and interesting than plain creamy.

April 30, 2009I’m glad you reviewed this product! I’m a big fan of P.B. Loco. I actually just finished a jar of their Cocoa Banana peanut butter about half an hour ago, oddly enough. The Dark Chocolate Duo and the Sumatra Cinnamon Raisin are great as well. I just got an online coupon from them and I’m excited to try some more of their flavors.

May 1, 2009I found PB Loco when I moved to the Phoenix area and was instantly smitten! One of my personal favorites (my mom’s as well) is the sun dried tomato. It’s perfect for bagel sandwiches with a little cream cheese, turkey, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, and a slice of cheese. Delicious! I’ll have to try this banana flavor when I get the chance!

May 4, 2009That’s favorite combo of mine as well. Yum. I tried a banana peanut butter from Harry & David but the banana was pretty faint for my taste.

May 7, 2009I have never seen this combination before. This may be a good peanut butter to mix with cottage cheese to add a little flavor.
