Pull-apart pans

pull-apart pans

I’m not a fan of silicone bakeware, but even I have to admit that these pull-apart pans are pretty cute.

The pans are designed to bake unusually shaped cakes in pieces, which you can decorate and handle individually then put together to form a finished, shaped cake. The “pull apart” name clearly comes from the fact that you can take the cakes apart in pieces without cutting, rather like oddly-shaped cupcakes, although the fact that “pull apart pan” is just a bit catchier than a “put together pan” probably played a roll in name selection, as well.,

I would say that they’re targeted more for kids than experienced bakers, not only because of the (adorable) patterns, but because each one specifically says that it holds “1 box of cake mix,” as opposed to giving the regular pan size equivalent (it’s 9″x13″ for most cake mixes, just for reference). This isn’t to say that kids aren’t capable of mixing up a cake from scratch, but cake mixes are clearly the easiest way for youngsters to go and the cuter and easier something is, the younger the target audience seems to be.

That said, I would definitely go for that alligator pan if they made it in a metal version. And if there were a horse-shaped one, I would buy it no matter what it was made of.
