A good revolving cake stand can make cake decorating a lot easier. Often called a turntable, this style of cake stand is not designed for presentation, but simply to make the decorating process go more smoothly, as you don’t have to change your position as you work on the cake. Cake decorating is still a tricky business, of course, because even when your cake stand turns, you’re still faced with lots of awkward angles and it can be difficult to get your piping bag exactly where you want it to be – especially down near the bottom of the cake, where it meets the turntable.
