5 Peanut Butter & Banana Recipes Elvis Would Love

Chocolate Peanut Butter Topped Banana Snack Cake

January 8th is the anniversary of Elvis Presley’s birthday. Elvis is a music icon, but he always gets a nod from foodies in addition to music-lovers, because he is well known for loving one very specific treat: a deep fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. Creamy, salty peanut butter is a fantastic combination with a naturally sweet banana in any situation, whether it is a sandwich or some other baked good. To celebrate Elvis’s birthday, I highly recommend giving one of these delicious peanut butter and banana treats a try – and perhaps frying up a sandwich of your own while you wait for your goodies to bake!

Chocolate  Peanut Butter Topped Banana Snack Cake starts with a moist banana cake and is topped with rich layers of both peanut butter and chocolate. The peanut butter adds just enough of a salty contrast to get your mouth watering even before you dig in for that first bite.

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Muffins sound a bit healthier than what Elvis was eating, but these tasty muffins are a great way to get your morning started. They’re a riff on banana bread, with a slightly savory note from the peanut butter. Serve them as-is, or spread them with some extra peanut butter for some extra peanut butter flavor!

Peanut Butter and Honey Banana Pops are just about the easiest frozen treat you can make. They consist of a banana that is spread with honey and peanut butter, then dipped in rice cereal for crunch and frozen into a popsicle. It is definitely as close as you can come to a frozen deep fried peanut butter and banana sandwich when it comes to flavor, texture and tastiness.

Fluffernutter Whoopie Pies are based on another well-known peanut butter sandwich, the Fluffernutter, which features a filling of marshmallow fluff and peanut butter. These handheld whoopie pies just need a layer of banana slices in with that marshmallow cream to combine the two famous sandwiches in one tasty snack cake.

Bananas Foster doesn’t usually involve peanut butter, but to turn them into an Elvis-approved dessert, ladle a generous spoonful of caramelized bananas and sauce over the top of my homemade Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. Who needs a sandwich when you can have a bowl of this?

Um, yum!! I love everything peanut butter, banana, and chocolate related. You had my mouth watering at the snack cake and by the time I got to the peanut butter and honey banana pops it was hard to keep my tongue from hanging out of my mouth. I’ve been playing around with an idea for a recipe with all of these ingredients and I think I now have the inspiration I need. Thanks!
