- You’ve probably had cinnamon sugar swirled bread before, but have you tried Cinnamon Sugar Bagels? A Kitchen Addiction baked up a batch that is a great alternative to the usual loaf as a great breakfast item. The dough itself has cinnamon mixed into it and there is a cinnamon-sugar swirl running throughout, adding just the right amount of extra cinnamon flavor and sweetness. It takes a little practice to shape homemade bagels, but the results are worth it, especially for a cinnamon-laden recipe that will smell great in the toaster.
- I can’t resist Churros Con Chocolate, which has been one of my favorite desserts since I had it in Spain. Homemade churros are worth the effort, but deep frying them can be tricky. Fortune Goodies was inspired by the traditional dish to create Churros con Chocolate Cupcakes. The cupcakes are spiked with plenty of cinnamon and have a chocolate frosting filling in the center (chocolate ganache would be a good alternative if you want to get really indulgent). They’re topped with a cinnamon cream cheese frosting that is the perfect compliment to the cinnamon cake, and a finished with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar to add the crunch that you find on freshly fried churros.
- Speaking of churros, Oh Sweet Basil made a batch of Churro Pretzels that sound like something that should be packaged up and found in the snack aisle at the store. The recipe starts with storebought pretzels, then a churro-inspired cinnamon coating is mixed up and the pretzels are tossed in it to coat them completely. The doctored up pretzels are salty and sweet, cinnamony and sugary – all the elements that you need to make a very addictive snack food. And if you want to add a “con chocolate” element, you could try dipping these in warm fudge sauce.
- The Keebler Elves always promise to turn out delicious cookies from inside their tree house bakery and they make some unique treats. Ambrosia Baking decided that Homemade Fudge Stripe Cookies might be more fun to make than buying a batch of the elves’ cookies at the market. The cookies are made with a thin, buttery dough that is slightly cracker like. It is a plain cookie that lets the chocolate that the cookies are dipped in really shine – and if you liked them as a kid, this homemade version is doubly satisfying to eat.
