Taste Trunk Sweet Trunk, reviewed

It’s always fun to get something in the mail – especially when it is a package full of goodies, and not a bill. It is easy to buy yourself a little gift online, but you lose the element of surprise that comes with really getting an unexpected package. One possible solution to this is to sign up for a subscription service that will deliver a package – full of unexpected goodies – to your door every month. And Taste Trunk is a company that offers just such a service for foodies. Their monthly subscription trunks are boxes featuring 5-10 premium food items that you can treat yourself with.

They offer a few options for different tastes: a Gourmet Trunk, a Sweet Trunk, a BBQ Trunk and a Health Trunk. The Gourmet trunk focuses on ingredients that you can use to cook with. The BBQ trunk is good for grillers. The Health trunk focuses on all natural, health-oriented foods and snacks. Naturally, I gravitated towards the Sweet trunk, which is stuffed with goodies for anyone with a sweet tooth, including indulgent snack items.

The boxes are beautifully packed and it really is a pleasure to open them and see what is inside. I don’t want to specifically review the contents, as they will change from month to month, but in two months of boxes I was able to try several different types of cookies and candies from different bakeries, like CiCi’s Butterhorns and Wooden Table Baking Co, as well as some delicious salted caramel sauce from CC Made, which I have been a fan of for a while now. I personally love the wow factor of the package and discovering new treats.

The trunks all come in at just under $30 a month, but most of the goodies inside the boxes are full size products and you’ll get at least that much value from them. The Sweet trunk was great fit for me because I know that I will eat all of the things inside and there is no chance of tucking something away in the pantry and forgetting about it. That said, it’s actually pretty difficult to decide between the trunks because there are good things about all of the options. One of the appealing things about Taste Trunk is that you can change your subscription between trunk types so that you can get a little variety in your packages (and a BBQ box in the summertime!), so you won’t get bored with just one thing. And, of course, you can cancel at any time.

These also make great gifts if you’re looking to get something special for the food lover in your life (and aren’t just buying yourself a gift, which is what I typically do) that is something fun that can be enjoyed all year long.

They are running a special right now where you can buy just one trunk as a holiday gift. Thanks for the idea!

The site looks fun, but unfortunately, it asks for my email address every time I click on something. Not worth searching around in it.

Terri – If you click ok without entering your e-mail, it should let you in to the site. I’ve noticed that a lot of subscription services do the same thing (although, of course, they already have my e-mail address!).

They do have a special buy a gift and get a gift. But beware –it signs you up for their monthly service!

I got the buy one get one gift and it opted me into their monthly subscription program. Good luck canceling, I have been trying for days. Also box had broken items which leaked Ono the other perishables ruling the box. They promised a replacement which they have yet to ship. But they keep charging me! Anyone have luck dealing with this company? I can’t even get. Phone number for customer service..
