Celebrate More Holiday Pillsbury Baking Giveaway! (closed)

_DSC3696

More people bake during the holiday season than any other time of year. Not only does cold weather mean that it’s nice to have the oven on, heating up the kitchen, but there are all kinds of parties and get-togethers to celebrate – and often celebrating means sharing homemade baked goods. I bake all year long and it always seems a little bit more special around the holidays. To make sure that your holiday baking goes smoothly, I teamed up with Pillsbury® to host a holiday giveaway that includes lots of goodies that will allow you to celebrate more easily – and more deliciously – than ever. The gift pack is full of seasonal mixes and frostings, and includes a gift card that will ensure that your kitchen is well-stocked with anything you might need for your holiday baking projects!

The winter giveaway includes:

  • One Garland Green Vanilla Flavored Holiday Funfetti Frosting
  • One Rudolph Red Vanilla Flavored Holiday Funfetti Frosting
  • One Dark Chocolate Seasonal Cake Mix
  • One Chocolate Peppermint Cookie Mix
  • One Peppermint Frosting
  • One Holiday Sugar Cookie Mix
  • A $100 dollar Visa or American Express gift card

Total estimated giveaway value: $115

To enter the contest, just leave a comment below and tell me about your favorite holiday baking tradition or what you love to make. The winner of the contest will be chosen at random, so those who love to decorate gingerbread cookies to serve at holiday parties will have a equal chance to those who always whip up a batch of eggnog pancakes on Christmas morning! The contest ends at midnight Friday, December 6th and one winner will be randomly selected from the entries at that time. Don’t forget to fill in your e-mail on the comment form (it will not be made public), as that is how I will contact the winner, and good luck to everyone!

And if you need some inspiration when it comes to putting those mixes to good use, try making my Cranberry Pecan Shortbread Tart. It’s perfect for entertaining and you would never guess that it started with a sugar cookie mix!

My favorite is making gingerbread cookies with my grandmother’s recipe. Last year my mother scanned in all of my grandmother’s recipe cards and made a sweet little e-book with vintage photos for family members 🙂

I didn’t get to make pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving this year, so I need to do that soon to soothe my craving. And then cookie baking for work!

I make many different things for the holiday season and it starts with my homemade apple and pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. Then, for Christmastime, I love to make tons and tons of cookies which change every year, but the one that’s always an absolute must is the sugar cookies that my kids and I decorate together. I try to buy a new cookie cutter every year just to add some variety 🙂

I always loved baking with my grandmother as a child. Now with triplets of my own I see the joy on their faces baking with me. From cookies to cake pops to mini cupcakes watching them become future bakers and decoraters to carry on the family tradition reminds me of my childhood.

We celebrate Chanukah in my house. However, I make lots of cookies (at least 20 kinds). Goes back to the days when I was a poor graduate student. Had NO MONEY to buy gift so I gave away cookie platters.

We make sugar cookies, recipe from a family friend of ours. It’s so wonderfully imprecise (any other recipe would really get under my exacting baker’s skin) but they always turn out lovely anyway 😀

Me and my sisters used to have a baking day and make all our families favorites. My sisters made cookies and candies and I made pastries such as cream puffs and biscotti . It has been three years since we have done this , after our father died two days after Christmas the tradition ended, I guess because he wasn’t in the kitchen sampling the goodies, but now me and my daughters make all kinds of treats and ginger bread towns. We love to bake.

I look forward every year to Cookie Baking Day – although it sometimes stretches out to a week before the holidays. It is a favorite because I just love to bake holiday goodies with friends and family. My favorite cookie are simple jelly thumbprints – because my elderly mother always liked to be the “thumb”. It was actually my father who taught me how to bake, because my mother worked. So later in life we had fun together with her joking that she was an essential part of the cookie making process with her thumb.

I love making butter cookies in my cookie press. I got the recipe as a “family secret” and have been using it for years, its so delicious I have never had to change an ingredient. Whether I am decorating them for a cookie exchange, as a gift or watching my kids do the decorating it is one of my holiday “baking favorites.” My holiday isn’t complete until I make these cookies!

When I was a teenager, my brothers used to love my oatmeal cookies. I started with the basic Quaker Oats recipe, but added mashed banana, chocolate chips, walnuts and raisins.

It had been years since I baked, but last year did Whole Wheat chocolate chip & walnut cookies with my 5 year old nephew. If I do say so myself they were absolutely delicious.

My favorite holiday baking tradition is making sugar cookies on Christmas Eve with the kiddos. I let them do as much of the decorating as they can handle. And at the end of the evening, we leave a plate for Santa with milk and a letter. In the morning the kids find a plate of crumbs, empty glass, and a special just for them present from Santa.
