There are a few definitions of “muffin tops.” One is the delicious top portion of a muffin that has just the right ratio of golden exterior to fluffy interior. For some, muffin tops are even better than whole muffins. The other definition of a muffin top is a little bit less delicious and refers, according to Wikipedia, to “overhanging fat that spills over the waistline of pants or skirts like the top of a muffin.” For the first time, these two terms are coming together into a product that embodies them both. Muffin Tops Baking Cups from Fred are silicone muffin cups that are shaped to look like pants. You can fill them with your favorite muffin or cake batter and, for once, actually look forward to seeing that muffin top rise up over the waistband!
The set is sure to attract a few laughs if you use them for serving, and because they are silicone, they are nonstick and will peel away from the muffins (or cakes) easily. They’re machine washable, for easy cleanup. They’re only sold in a set of four, which means that you might need to stock up on a couple of sets if you wanted to serve a whole batch of muffins in these, but you only need a few to make the joke and you can set them in with regular muffins if you’re baking a big batch.
