Trader Joe’s Crunchy Speculoos Cookie Butter, reviewed

Trader Joe's Crunchy Speculoos Cookie Butter, reviewed

Biscoff, a sweet spread that is made up primarily of delicious brown sugar cookies, is a foodie favorite that has been gaining popularity rapidly over the last year. The spread, also known as “cookie butter,” is typically smooth and is great for spreading on toast, cookies and even being baked into cookies and cakes. I recently saw that Trader Joe’s, which has been selling Speculoos Cookie Butter for a little white now, added a variation on this new favorite to their lineup: Crunchy Speculoos Cookie Butter. This spread is the same deliciously addictive gingerbread-like cookie spread they offered before – but now it has crunchy chunks of cookie in the spread itself. The effect is like that of crunchy peanut butter, where you get a little texture along with all that flavor and, for me, it is even tastier than the original.

I should also note that there is a Crunchy Biscoff Spread that is already on the market, but it is pretty difficult to find, as many stores (in the US) that stock plain Biscoff don’t stock the crunchy version. The Trader Joe’s product tastes just about the same and should be much easier to find.

As I love Biscoff, I will count myself very lucky that my local grocery store stocks both the creamy and crunchy versions. I don’t have a Trader Joe’s close by, so I have yet to try their cookie butter.

My grocery store stocks both creamy and crunchy Biscoff. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the creamy version, but the crunchy version didn’t do it for me. It didn’t have chunks of cookie in it like chunky peanut butter has peanuts; it was gritty.

Found this at my TJs. I’m hoping you will post a recipe for us to use this in a recipe (other than one that calls for the smooth. Thanks for the shopping tip. I also found they have a new GF flour. Maybe you can review that for us too.

It does taste great…but MARGARINE???? Really??? What an abomination. I threw my jar in the trash the minute I realized that. If the other brand uses a real food product, I’ll consider that.
