Want to see a free screening of Julie & Julia?

Julie & JuliaThanks to the lovely people at Sony who set up the screening of Julie & Julia that I saw about a week ago, I have a bunch of tickets to give away to a private screening of the movie before it comes out! The screening is in Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009, so this giveaway is only for readers in the Los Angeles area – and possibly those within driving distance, if you don’t mind spending a little time in the car. Screening time is 7pm, so make sure thar works with your schedule.

There are 10 pairs of tickets available (total of 20 tickets). To win the tickets, leave a comment with your name (first name only is ok) and your e-mail address (in the form, not in the full comment) so that I can contact you and let you know which theater to go to. Full names of all the winners will get  put on a gust list at the screening. I’ll pick 10 winners randomly and you have from today until Friday, July 24th, to sign up. Even though the winners will be picked randomly, there is a chance that I might be persuaded by commenters who sound enthusiastic, so keep that in mind when you leave your comment.

I’m sorry to have to exclude anyone from out of town, but I’ll try to have another giveaway in the not-too-distant future that everyone can participate in.

Aren’t we all just like Julie? Hoping to find something that will inspire us to become a better version of ourselves?

My 13 year old daughter and I are SO excited to see this movie. She is an aspiring chef, and is also gluten free. Perhaps she will one day come up with a tastey gluten alternative. And just think…you will be partially responsible!

I would love to see this movie. I watched a little of Julia growing up and love Julie’s idea of cooking through her book. I’ve been a lifelong student of cooking because of my parents love of learning & eating great food.

I would absolutely LOVE to see this premier!! I spent most of my childhood pretending to cook like Julia Child using play doh in my basement. Got her cookbooks as a teen and as an adult, my husband bought me a ticket to go see her at a benefit honoring her, but she fell ill and I never got to see her in person. It sounds like Meryl has done a fine job representing THE FOOD ICON of my lifetime!!

I am a free lance Food Stylist, owner of Food For Film Stylists® in Los Angeles. I’m writing to ask for your help in obtaining a “Golden Ticket” to Julie & Julia. I have written to Sony Pictures, Julie Powell, Cordon Bleu Paris, local food bloggers for several weeks with no response.
I just recently lectured at Boston University to an International Conference of Food Stylists and Food Photographers as well appear on TV Food Network Challenge as their Expert Food Styling Judge. I am a founding member of IACP since 1978, graduated from Le Cordon Bleu, Paris Grand Diplome in June, 1975 and knew Julia Child from 1976-2004.

    Thanks and best wishes,
    Alice
