Although it’s called the Easy Pb&J Jar, this innovative jar is good for more than just peanut butter and jelly storage. The jar has screw-tops on either end and perfectly straight sides. This completely eliminated the rounded edges usually found at the bottom of “regular” jars and the rim found underneath the top opening, where the jar comes up and narrows, and prevents you from struggling to get the last bits of peanut butter or other spreads out with a knife. It was designed by Sherwood Forlee, who has also done design engineering work for companies like OXO.
Unfortunately, no design is perfect. The problem here, of course, is that you’re either going to have to transfer your peanut butter and jelly from their old, inconvenient jars to this new one (possibly losing some in the transferal procedure) or make your own to fill the jar. Until jars like these catch on and companies start packaging in something similar, I’d opt for a mini spatula to help you get the last out of your current jars and save these new ones – when and if they’re available – for when you make a batch of homemade nut butter or jam and need to store it.

June 3, 2008Oh no, I’m getting one of these for sure! The peanut butter I buy, and eat, comes separated. I have to transfer it to a bowl to mix up anyway. Why not transfer it to a jar that doesn’t suck? I’m in.

June 17, 2008I have this little flexible gizmo that actually gets every bit of stuff out of a jar. It has a spatula on one end, and it’s a bit like a swizzle stick.
I got it as a freebee at a Tupperware party a zillion years ago.
The jar is cool, but air is the enemy and causes stuff to go bad more quickly, and you’d get too much air in the new jar if you transfer PB and/or J into it.

June 18, 2008That’s quite awesome. I think that would be fabulous for taking with you to a store like Whole Foods where you can grind and dispense your own nut butter. Just stick it in this awesome jar.
