Norpro Pretzel Pan

Norpro Pretzel Pan

When you’re walking through a mall or large shopping center, the warm and buttery smell of soft-baked pretzels is likely to catch you, since chain pretzel places are just about everywhere. Soft pretzels are one of the most fun and tasty snack foods that you can make at home, and you don’t need to go out just to find fresh ones. The yeast dough for pretzels is easy to make and it is a lot of fun to twist and turn the dough into that classic pretzel shape. Of course, when you first start to play with your pretzels, you’ll notice that they rarely come out looking as good as those from the pretzel shop.

You could make things a little easier with a Norpro Pretzel Pan. This nifty pan from Norpro is intended to help you get a better shape from your homemade pretzels. The pan measures 11-1/4-inch by 17-1/4-inch and makes pretzels that are a good size for one person, although they’re not nearly as big as the pretzels you’ll find at one of those chain stores. The pan is only 1/4-inch deep, so it is a guideline to help you form pretzels, rather than a mold that just allows you to press them out. The nonstick surface will ensure that your pretzels release easily and keep their nice pretzel shape before and during baking.

  1. Love this pan!!! Would love to get one!

  2. I dunno. It looks like another thing to find storage space for when forming pretzels on a sheet pan is just not that difficult. And pretzels that don’t look perfect still taste pretty yummy. …of course I’ve only ever made pretzels with my kids when they were preschoolers and their “pretzels” were far more original than recognizable.

Are you supposed to dunk the the ropes of dough before you form them in this pan?

  3. Rainey – I do think that you’re supposed to dunk the ropes before forming them. I would think that it would actually be easier than dunking the whole pretzel, since then the rope would be a little more slippery and elastic when it came to shaping. It’s definitely a novelty, though!
