I’ll admit that I usually bake sweet things, but that doesn’t mean they’re the only things I use my oven for! I also make a wide variety of breads, roasts, pasta dishes and other savory items, though not all of them end up here on the site. During the holidays, there are two main dishes that are part of my family’s traditions: turkey and ham. Turkey gets the spotlight at Thanksgiving and ham is usually the main course for Christmas. If I had to choose between the two in general, I would pick turkey. But if I had to choose between this particular ham, with its amazingly flavorful sugary crust, and turkey, the ham would easily win. Over on the Craftsy blog (it’s free!!) I’m sharing the recipe for this amazing Brown Sugar & Whiskey-Glazed Ham. The spiral-sliced ham is drenched with a mixture of brown sugar, molasses, spices and Jack Daniels (which actually pairs amazingly well with ham in general) and roasted until that coating is perfectly caramelized. It’s downright addictive and beautiful enough to be your holiday centerpiece. The leftovers make great sandwiches, too.
