Baking Bites for Craftsy: DIY Candied Apples
Candied apples are one of the most beautiful treats you can serve during the fall holiday season. They’re stunning to look at, a fresh apple with a crisp, glossy layer of sugar hugging its surface. They’re also surprisingly easy to make, as long as you have a little patience and a candy thermometer. I’ll walk you through everything you need to know to make Classic Candied Apples over on the Craftsy blog (it’s free!!). You only need a couple of ingredients, so as long as you have some apples in your kitchen, you’re probably ready to go right now! I added red food coloring to the apples to give them a classic look, but you can add other food colorings if you want to go for a more unique look with your apples. You can also add candy flavorings (they’re more intense than regular extracts) to create coatings with different flavors. Once they’re set, the candy coating is crisp and sweet, giving each bit of sweet-tart apple a particularly nice contrast.
