  • The next time you find yourself with a basket of fresh blackberries, the Blackberry Chocolate Chunk Muffins from Floating Kitchen are a great way to use them. The fluffy muffins have lots of fresh berries in each one and include a hint of orange zest that makes the sweet berries pop. Dark chocolate adds some richness to the muffins and contrasts well with their fruitiness.
  • While apple desserts often show up in the fall, there are plenty of ripe apples on trees right now and that makes it a good time for both homemade applesauce and for desserts that use it. The Applesauce Bars with Cream Cheese frosting from Rumbly in my Tumbly are made using homemade cinnamon applesauce as the main ingredient. The chunky applesauce includes large, tender pieces of apples that make these bars feel like a riff on apple pie. Of course, they are an excellent choice for fall, but there is no need to wait until the weather gets cooler to enjoy these.
  • Granitas are some of the easiest frozen desserts that you can make and, while they can feature a variety of flavors, they typically make fruit their star. Bourbon and Honey‘s Watermelon Rosé Granita puts a sophisticated twist on a simple dessert by adding rosé wine into the granita base. Think of it as a very refreshing twist on sangria, one of my summer favorites that also combines wine and fruit, and plan to serve it up all season long.
  • Another frozen dessert comes in the form of Homemade Nutella Soft Serve from How Sweet Eats. The creamy treat is not made in a soft serve machine, but it has a similar texture to the kind that you would get from one! The base is made with mascarpone cheese, sweetened condensed milk and gelatin, and is flavored with a generous amount of Nutella. You’ll need a piping bag with a large star tip to get the soft-serve effect, but it will be good even if you have to eat it with a spoon.
  • Recipe Throwback: Cobblers and crisps may be some of the most common fruit desserts, but that doesn’t mean you should overlook other fruit-filled goodies, like this Buttermilk Blueberry Buckle. A buckle is an ultra-moist cake that is so packed with fruit it “buckles” under the weight of it all – making a very delicious dessert that deserves a spot in your rotation.
