Colorful funfetti cakes are one of my favorite types of cake to make. I started making them from a box mix when I was a kid and they quickly became my go-to cake for birthdays and other occasions. Fast forward a few years and I found I didn’t reach for cake mixes any more because I no longer had to. Instead, I could make my own funfetti cakes from scratch – and you can, too, using the recipe for Funfetti Cake Without A Cake Mix that I’m sharing over at the Craftsy blog (it’s free!). The vanilla cake recipe is one of my favorites and the rainbow confetti only makes it more fun.
Once you have your basic funfetti technique down, you can add color to other baked goods. This Funfetti Angel Food Cake is a classic, and Funfetti Blondies go over very well with both kids and adults. My Valentine’s Day Funfetti Cake is a layer cake that only uses red, pink and white sprinkles, just to show that you don’t have to use the whole rainbow in every cake, either.
