Halloween is a holiday where it is fun to go over-the-top with decorations, whether you’re covering your house with fake spiderwebs, stocking up on dry ice to give your punch a spooky look or plugging in a motion-activated zombie to hide in the front yard and scare trick-or-treaters. You can easily put some of the holiday spirit into your baking by making good use of food coloring and seasonal bakeware, like this Nordic Ware Ghost Cake Pan. This pan bakes a three dimensional ghost cakes that stands up spookily all on its own. The cake is baked in two halves, which are sandwiched together with some frosting before the completely ghost is set out on a cake stand to serve. The ghost stands about 7-inches tall, so it has a very dramatic presence when it is set out on a table of Halloween goodies!
The pan itself is made of heavy duty cast aluminum and has a nonstick interior, just like the rest of the bundt pans (and other bakeware) in Nordic Ware’s line. It is good that it has a nonstick finish because the ghost has a lot of detail in the folds of its robe and you want to ensure that the cake comes out as cleanly as possible. As usual, I recommend greasing the pan with melted butter or shortening then flouring it before any cake batter is added to help ensure that your finished product looks picture perfect.
