- The Salted Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars that Channeling Contessa baked recently are the perfect thing to bake when you’re looking for a thick, chewy and satisfying bar cookie. The bars use a whole cup of creamy peanut butter and lots of chocolate chips, and they are also spiked with a generous amount of sea salt to bring those flavors out. These are good for everyday snacking, and they’re easy to pack up for school lunches or other occasions, too.
- Caramels are a great treat any time of the year, and Confections of a Foodie Bride put a fall twist on homemade caramels by turning them into Pumpkin Spice Caramels. The spice comes from a homemade pumpkin pie spice mixture that includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and cloves. A bit of molasses also adds a richness to the caramels that ties them in well with the spices. The caramels will set firmly and can be easily cut and wrapped, but this combination sounds like it would make an amazing ice cream topping if you stole a few spoonfuls out of the still-warm pan.
- Canneles are known as portable creme brulees, since their burnt sugar exterior and custardy interior really does evoke a creme brulee taste. It’s not very common to see them in a wide variety of flavors, but creme brulee can come in many flavors – so why not! The Nutella Cannelé Bites from Buttercream & Chantilly Factory use Nutella to give these homemade canneles a rich chocolate and hazelnut flavor, setting them apart from the standard cannele. Traditional cannele molds make for a beautiful finished product, but you can also make these in regular muffin tins or even silicone muffin cups, so you don’t need any special equipment to make a batch yourself.
- A simple Snickers bar gets a gourmet makeover in Bakers Royal‘s Snickers Macarons. These macarons have a chocolate shell with a salted caramel filling and pieces of Snickers inside. The macarons look beautiful, thanks to the mosaic-like look of the cut candy bars, but they also take all the flavors that make Snickers bars so popular and amplify them. With the basic chocolate shells, you could even try similar twists on other popular candies – peanut butter cups, for instance – to give them a gourmet spin, as well.
