The Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook giveaway!

The Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook
I’ve been enjoying my copy of The Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook, the newest cookbook from Chris Kimball and the rest of the team at America’s Test Kitchen. The huge book has more than 2000 recipes and was put out to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Cook’s Illustrated magazine. To read a full review of the book, check out this post. To do my own part in the celebration, I’m giving away a copy of the book to one lucky reader! .

To enter the contest, leave a comment below with your favorite Cook’s Illustrated recipe. Their exhaustively tested recipes always turn out a good product and almost everyone has at least one favorite that they turn to again and again. If you haven’t made any of their recipes before, just leave a comment with the recipe that you want to make most (since just about everything you could think of, with variations, is in here). The contest ends Friday, October 14th at midnight and the winner will be randomly selected from the entries. Don’t forget to fill in your e-mail on the comment form (it will not be public), as that is how I will contact the winner, and good luck!

Update: This contest is now closed. Congrats to Robert on winning the book and a huge thanks to everyone for participating and sharing your favorite recipes!

How can I narrow down which, of the many, recipes I have made, blogged and raved about from Cook’s Illustrated?! Their flan is excellent. So is their meatloaf. I just made their chewy sugar cookies and crispy oven baked fish and all of them were successful!

So excited to try out the Ultimate Stuffed Portobellos. We have so many vegetarians mixed with carnivores but mostly opportunivors in the family that finding main course options is always a challenge. I also enjoy the scientific explanation and process you go through to find the best recipes. Thank you for your work!

Cooks Illustrated had a demonstration video for their Best Baked Apple. It was so beautiful and looked so delicious! They cut off the apple tops and placed it over the apple that was filled pecans, brown sugar, dried cranberries, orange zest, butter and oatmeal.

Not sure of the real name of this recipe, since I’ve made it a bazillion times, and have memorized it… but its is a baked pasta (Ziti or Rotini) with Italian Sausage… and the spice comes not from the sausage but from cherry peppers. Genius!!! Leaving out the sausage, I can make this for my veg. friends, and it is just as good.

(Oh, and their Pie Crust recipe is infallible)

I want to make the waffles I saw them make just last weekend on TV, especially since they were using powdered buttermilk to give them a little tang.
