Wilton Stars and Stripes Cake Pan

Wilton Stars and Stripes Cake Pan
I always try to come up with at least a few red, white and blue desserts around the 4th of July. Not only is it fun to make colorful desserts, whether they’re dressed up with berries or dyed with vibrant food colors, but the 4th of July is a holiday where most people get together at home with friends and family and enjoy a big dinner or barbecue. This is the perfect type of get together to pull out a special holiday dessert. A flag-shaped cake pan might sound like the “obvious” choice for an Independence Day dessert – but just because it’s an obvious choice doesn’t mean it’s a bad one.

Wilton’s Stars and Stripes Cake Pan is a neat flag-shaped cake pan that has a slight ripple to it, giving it the look of a flag waving in the wind. Stars and stripes are imprinted right in the pan, but they’re fairly discrete and serve as good guidelines for decorating the cake, rather than making a dramatic impression on their own. The cake pan holds the same amount of cake batter as a standard cake mix – making a 9×13 or two 8-in round cakes – so it is easy to translate non cake mix recipes to work in this pan. Decorate it with fruit, fill it with ice cream or go all out with red-white-and-blue layers and you’ll have a cake that is as festive as any fireworks display you’ll see.

Are the multi-colored layers assembled after baking, then pressed into the pan?
