New York’s Fat Witch Bakery doesn’t just make good brownies – they specialize in them. From classic brownies to indulgent blondies, Fat Witch really knows what they’re doing when it comes to making brownies, and they’re a hot not only in NYC, but in other parts of the country, which are served via their popular mail order business. Now, you can bake their brownies at home in your own kitchen, thanks to the new cookbook, Fat Witch Brownies: Brownies, Blondies, and Bars from New York’s Legendary Fat Witch Bakery.
The book is divided up into 5 chapters: Updated Classics, Delicious Decadence, Grown Up Kid Stuff, Delightfully Different and Over the top Toppings. In addition to the recipes, it also has a great introductory chapter that gives you a crash course in brownie baking basics. There is something for anyone who likes brownies, blondies or bars.
The beautifully photographed cookbook contains 50 recipes for brownies of all kinds, both classic and more unusual, and will certainly help you to pick out exactly the right brownie recipe for any occasion. The recipes are easy to make and once you’ve done one, it’s even easier to do the rest because most of the recipes use the exact same method of mixing and baking. One other thing to really like about the recipes in this book is that they are simple. Short recipes with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry (or can easily get in a quick trip to any market) mean that you’ll be that much more inclined to bake from the book.

November 21, 2010Bought the book, have tried 4 recipes so far, and every one has gotten rave reviews from my co-workers! But you MUST, must, must follow the recipe to the letter and no substitutions are allowed. I highly recommend this cookbook!
