Mad for Muffins: 70 Amazing Muffin Recipes from Savory to Sweet

Mad for Muffins: 70 Amazing Muffin Recipes from Savory to SweetYou can’t go wrong with a classic blueberry muffin in the morning, but there are so many other muffin options out there that you also don’t need to limit yourself to that one flavor. I love baking muffins because they’re fun to make, versatile and very delicious. If you’re a muffin-fan, too, you’ll find plenty of inspiration in Mad for Muffins: 70 Amazing Muffin Recipes from Savory to Sweet.

The book opens with an overview of how to use the book, including tips on what ingredients to use, measuring techniques and tools that you’ll need to have in your kitchen, before jumping into the recipes. The recipes are divided into broad categories: Good Basic Muffins, Corn Muffins, Whole Grain Muffins, Fruit and/or Nut Muffins, Sweet Muffins and spreads. Each chapter is packed with plenty of recipes, and every recipe is accompanied by at least one variation. While the basic muffin chapter does include blueberry muffins and banana muffins, it also includes pepperoni muffins with sun dried tomatoes and PB & J Muffins. It is built around a basic muffin recipe, not simply a list of muffins that you’re likely to find at your local bakery. Corn muffins get more print time here than in most books, which is wonderful if you’re a corn muffin or cornbread fan because there is a lot – sweet and savory – that can be done with a cornmeal base.

The recipes are clearly written and easy to follow. The fact that there are so many variations means that you’ll end up with more than the 70 recipes promised by the title of this book, too. There are many photos of the muffins to help get you inspired, but the names and ingredients used in each recipe are likely to get your mouth watering just as easily as the photos themselves. This is a fun book to add to your collection that will have you baking muffins of all kinds a lot more often.
