Treats include recipes such as Rocky Road Cookie Fudge Bars, Cinnamon Roll Cookies, Strawberry Pie Cupcakes and Lemon Bar Cheesecake. The most unusual category is for dessert dips, where familiar favorites – like Tiramisu – are transformed into something that you can dip into with a piece of crispy, buttery pie crust. The recipes are very clearly written and easy to follow, so even novice bakers will have no problem getting great results. There are plenty of illustrations of mouthwatering goodies to keep you turning the pages while you decide what to make, too.

One of the things that makes this book so enjoyable is that it seems like fun to make the recipes. This is partly because the author’s tone is so warm and friendly, but mostly because it is clear that these desserts aren’t ones that you need to take too seriously. They’re fun to make and just as much fun to eat, because each bite reveals some new flavor surprise – and not many recipes work that way. These are great for entertaining, however they should be pretty easy to incorporate into your “everyday” life, as well.
