  • The Strawberry Jelly Cheesecake that Køkken69 is probably one of the most beautiful cheesecake preparations I’ve seen in a while. The no-bake recipe starts with a buttery cookie crust that is topped with a velvety cream cheese mixture. Layered on top of the cream cheese is a jewel-like jello layer with heart-shaped strawberries captured underneath, like they’re being displayed in a jewelery case. It’s surprisingly simple to put together and the result is simply beautiful.
  • You might want to add the Panforte Ice Cream that Burnt Carrots recently made to your to-do list of holiday desserts. This homemade ice cream is inspired by the flavors of the Panforte, a traditional fruitcake-like Italian dessert that is popular around the holidays. The ice cream has hints of eggnog spices, toasted almonds and candied citrus peel, for a flavor that is warm, spicy and sweet – and still very cool, of course. Homemade candied citrus peel will yield better results than storebought and makes a great garnish for other holiday desserts, too.
  • The next time that you get a craving for banana cream pie, try making the Banana Turnovers that Lemons and Anchovies baked. The turnovers start with homemade pastry cream, which is made and cooled before using. Puff pastry (homemade or store bought) is rolled out and cut into squares, which are stuffed with the pastry cream and with slices of ripe banana before being folded into triangles and sealed. Baked until they’re crisp and flaky, you end up with a single-serving banana cream pie that you can eat while it’s warm and gooey.
  • There is never a bad time for cinnamon rolls, and I suspect that Buttered Up would agree, as the Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Glaze she baked recently sound delicious. The yeast rolls are light and sweet, stuffed with a mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon and roasted almonds. The almonds give a nice crunch to the rolls and add some texture that you don’t typically see in the soft, fluffy buns. Cream cheese glaze finishes these off and gives them just the right amount of extra sweetness to make them addictive.
  • Speaking of addictive foods, Simple Scratch‘s Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars wit Pretzels sound like another food that might be dangerous to keep around the kitchen. These bar cookies have a salty, crunchy pretzel crust beneath a layer of buttery, chocolate chip-packed cookie dough. It’s a good combination that is difficult to resist in any form and, since the recipe isn’t any more difficult than whipping up a regular batch of chocolate chip cookie dough, it is worth a try if you are also a salty-sweet fan.

I just had to try those banana turnovers tonight since I had all the ingredients on hand already, even leftover pastry cream from another recipe.

    Oh. My. Gosh.

    Those are sooooooooo good.
