  • Easter is right around the corner, and while you can buy a bunch of chocolate eggs, you can also follow along with Not Martha‘s instructions for making Chocolate Easter Surprise Eggs. These treats are hollow chocolate eggs made by filling real, hollowed out eggshells with melted chocolate. A few candies and other little goodies inside of the hollow eggs make these a lot like Kinder Surprise eggs (love those candies!) and make them a fantastic Easter surprise.
  • If you’re planning to do some baking for Easter Sunday brunch and want something special, take a peek at Mowielicious‘s Chocolate Cinnamon Brioche Rolls. These cinnamon rolls are richer than usual, starting off with a buttery brioche dough. The dough is spread with melted chocolate, cinnamon and brown sugar before it is rolled up and sliced into individual buns. Definitely indulgent, but well worth it with a cup of strong coffee to bring out the chocolate flavors in the pastry.
  • Stromboli is a variation on a calzone, a combination of pizza sauce, cheese and lots of other ingredients wrapped up in pizza dough. The difference between the two is that stromboli tends to be wrapped up much thinner than a calzone so you get a bit more of an even bread to filling ratio. Food People Want put a great combination of flavors into this Spinach Feta Kalamata Olive StromboliSpinach Feta and Kalamata Olive Stromboli. It has a sweet, rich tasting sauce that makes a great backdrop for the salty, savory olives and cheese.
  • I like passion fruit in all its forms, but it has such a lovely, complex flavor on its own that it is nice when it comes with a simple presentation to let it stand out. The Passion Fruit Cream Pots at Technicolor Kitchen are a great example. These simple desserts have a rich cream base flavored with passion fruit juice and topped with passion fruit pulp. A few seeds on top give it a great look that lets you know that you’re in for a real passion fruit treat when you go to take a bite.
  • Donuts are best when they are eaten fresh from the fryer, and the moral of The Kitchen Sink Recipe‘s story about making Cinnamon-Sugar Mini-Doughnuts is that this reason is exactly why you should consider frying up a batch of your own. Plus, it’s not that difficult to make the dough or fry the little donuts. Cinnamon sugar makes a great topping for the fresh donuts, offering a little bit more flavor than a sugar topping alone. The only hard part, really, is not eating a whole batch yourself!

Thank you for the links! Those Cinnamon-Sugar Mini-Doughnuts look heavenly! I have a no-fry policy as well, but..well…breaking the rules is half the fun right???
