Banana Oatmeal Cookies

I have tried several times in the past to incorporate bananas into cookies, simply because there are not all that many banana flavored cookies out there. Is banana a less popular flavor than I previously imagined? Perhaps not. The reason that I have never posted a banana cookie recipe before is that they haven’t turned out so well. They have been cakey and, in some ... Read More »

Slice and Bake Coconut Cookies

coconutslicenbake2

Slice and bake cookies get their name from the fact that you simply slice the cookies off a pre-formed (and usually frozen) log of dough before baking. The supermarket cookies come packaged this way, but it’s really nothing that shouldn’t be done at home. You can make the dough well in advance, wrap it up into a log and keep it in the freezer for ... Read More »

Snickerdoodles

Snickerdoodles!

Snickerdoodles are sugar cookies that are coated in cinnamon sugar. They usually have a cracked appearance and I have had ones that are both crisp and chewy. There is an added bonus to the cookies in that they have a fun name to say. Snickerdoodle Snickerdoodles are probably the single least offensive cookie that there is – which is to say that they will appeal ... Read More »

Kissables Cookies

When I first saw the new Hershey’s Kissables a few months ago, I wanted to eat them by the handful. They are smaller than a regular Hershey’s Kiss and covered in a thick, bright candy shell. They are very similar in principle to an M&M, but larger and rather more substantial. Like M&Ms, the different colors do not have corresponding flavors; they are just there ... Read More »

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

I would not go so far as to say that these are the ultimate peanut butter cookie, but flavor-wise, these would be very, very close. Though I do enjoy the traditional recipe and the crunchiness of the PBJ version, there is nothing to take away from the peanut butter flavor of these cookies. The recipe is from and issue of Everyday Food that I have ... Read More »

Cocoa Fudge Cookies

I found this recipe in an older issue of Cooking Light magazine that I happened to be flipping through. Apparently there is a good reason to save all those old issues, because this recipe makes delicious cookies. I know it’s listed on their website and has been included in their Christmas Cookie recipe collection at least once, too, so a subscription isn’t crucial to getting ... Read More »

Black and White Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Not to be confused with the Black and White cookie of Seinfeld fame, these cookies have chunks of both black and white chocolate in them. And in this case, “black” chocolate means bittersweet (about 63% cacao) to contrast with the sweetness of the white chocolate. Milk chocolate would not be a good match in these. Chopping chocolate is fun when you have a chipper. Chocolate ... Read More »

Daim Cookies

Daim are Swedish candies that have pieces of crunchy caramel enrobed in creamy milk chocolate. Though firm at room temperature, when you heat them the caramel becomes soft and chewy. I bought them at the Swedish market at Ikea, though some specialty foods stores will carry them in the states. If you can find them, it is worth picking up a package because they have ...
