I a a big soft pretzel fan and I’ll always order them if they’re on the menu, though I like to make them at home, as well. It can be difficult to get pretzels just right when you’re making them at home because shaping them – and having them maintain their shape – is not always easy when you don’t do it on a regular basis. Instead of making full sized pretzels, I’ve become obsessed with Homemade Pretzel Bites and I’m sharing the recipe over on the Craftsy blog (it’s free!!) right now! The bites start with a made-from-scratch dough that is easy to put together. Then, instead of rolling and shaping the pretzels into twists, the dough is simply cut into small pieces. The individual pieces are boiled, salted and baked to perfection. Most bites are actually bite size, but I prefer them to be a little bit larger so mine are “two bite” sized. I find this to be a better size handling and dipping, plus it provides a nice ratio of chewy exterior to fluffy interior. These are ready to eat almost as soon as they come out of the oven, so be sure to have dipping sauces like mustard, cheese and chocolate (yes, chocolate!) at the ready!!
