Ice cream sandwiches are a wonderful treat to enjoy on a hot summer day. I tend to prep them a few days ahead of time because, as they are already frozen, there is no need to make them at the last minute and advance planning means that I have them available whenever a craving strikes. Homemade ice cream sandwiches allow you to mix and match the flavor of cookies and filling, while store-bought sandwiches tend to stick with chocolate and vanilla. The Chef’n Sweet Spot Ice Cream Sandwich Maker lets you make ice cream sandwiches at home that look like the kind you can buy at the store, while still giving you the freedom to use any cookie and any filling to create a completely custom sandwich.
The sandwich maker consists of two silicone baking trays that have rectangular cavities where you can bake your cookie dough. The dough is poured or pressed into the cavities (depending on what recipe you are using), then baked and cooled. After baking, a plastic tray is placed on top of the silicone pan and you can add your layer of ice cream. The second silicone pan is placed on top. Freeze everything together and, before you know it, you’ll have four perfect ice cream sandwiches. The tool comes with a recipe, but you can press any kind of cookie dough into the molds so feel free to be creative. If you do use your own recipe, keep an eye on the baking time because the cookies for these sandwiches should be thin.
