Tiki Drinks Book Giveaway! (closed)

Tiki Drinks: Tropical Cocktails for the Modern Bar

This summer, my newest cookbook – Tiki Drinks: Tropical Cocktails for the Modern Bar – was released just in time for the summer entertaining season. The book is packed with delicious rum drinks that are nothing like those overly sweet blended drinks that were popular in the 1970s. They are fresh, modern updates to the drinks that started the original tiki trend back in the 1930s, all made with quality rums, homemade syrups and freshly squeezed juices. And they’re equally fun if you’re throwing a party or just enjoying a cocktail at the end of a long, busy day.

Summer may be winding down, but tiki drinks are good all year, so I’m giving away a signed copy of Tiki Drinks to one lucky reader! To enter, leave a comment on this post telling me about one of your favorite cocktails – whether it is a rum-based tiki drink or a fruity sangria – between now and Sunday, August 23rd at 11:59 PM. The winner will be chosen from all the entries at random, so everyone has an equal opportunity to win. Don’t forget to leave your e-mail address on the comment form. It will not be made public, but this is how I will contact the winner. Good luck everyone!

While you’re waiting for the winner to be announced, head over to my tiki site – Modern Tiki – and check out even more rum-related recipes.

Update: This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Bridget, our lucky winner!

Have to love a nice Mojito for the summer. Mint from the garden, fresh limes and a little bubble with your rum.

My favorite go-to is a watermelon sangria, and my second favorite is a drink I copied from a great restaurant in Savannah, GA: passionfruit rum with cranberry juice!

When I was in Sydney Australia some years ago, a bartender made us what he called a “girly drink” – Midori and pineapple juice (I guess because it was sweet). It sure was delicious and a beautiful emerald color!

The Orange Range– it is a drink of my own invention, and involves melon flavored white rum, orange liquer, orange/pineapple juice, a splash of lemon juice, topped off with sprite.

It’s impossible to choose a favorite, but I do love a mix of cointreau, cream and honey sesame infused vodka, in a 1 1 1 ratio, shaken then strained into a coupe.
