Stand mixers are great tools to have in the kitchen, whether you’re whipping up some whipped cream to garnish a cake or mixing a thick cookie dough. Most of us use out mixers for everyday baking applications, but thanks to the wide range of attachments available for them, they are actually extremely versatile tools to have around. Kitchen Aid has developed a new type of bowl for use with their stand mixers: the Precise Heat Bowl. This unique bowl is an electronic attachment that can be used alone or in conjunction with the motor of the mixer. The electronic bowls can maintain a temperature from 70F to 220F, adjustable to two degree increments, for up to 10 hours. This wide range of temperature options allows you to use the bowls for a wide range of applications. For instance, it can be used to gently warm up cold egg whites to allow them to achieve a greater volume when whipping. It can be used to slow proof yeast breads, or to hold tempered chocolate at the correct temperature while you dip truffles. At the higher end of the spectrum, you can pop the included lid on the bowl and use it as a slow cooker for soups and roasts.
The Precise Heat Bowls are available for tilt stand mixers and for lift stand mixers. The bowl includes a wire whisk, a flexible-edge beater, a dough hook and a glass lid, which will create a good seal on top of the bowl for higher heat applications while still allowing you to peek inside.

July 22, 2015Interesting but can’t imagine it will be in most family kitchens at almost $300. I can figure out how to keep items warm for a lot cheaper!

July 22, 2015Cheryl – That’s definitely true, but if you’re looking to buy a slow cooker (and some, of course, are pricier than others), it might be a good option because it will utilize an existing appliance base and give you a few bonus features. That said, I agree that it’s probably not going to be the perfect fir for everyone!
