Posted on

Crepes: 50 Savory and Sweet Recipes Crepes are light, delicate pancakes that are delicious just about any way you make them. Unlike some other types of pancakes, they are extremely versatile and can be made in both sweet and savory variations. In Crepes: 50 Savory and Sweet Recipes, you’ll find plenty of inspiration for some of the amazing ways that you can enjoy crepes.

The book opens with a comprehensive introduction into making crepes, including both the equipment that you’ll need to have in your kitchen and techniques that you’ll use while making the recipes in the book. The techniques include tips on the process of making crepes themeslves, as well as tips on storing, reheating and folding crepes once they’ve already been made. From there, the book goes straight into basic crepe recipes that you can use both for the recipes in the book or anytime with fillings of your own design. The rest of the recipes are divided into savory – Spiced Indian Potato and Chickpea Crepes, and Chicken Pot Pie Crepes are just a couple to look forward to – and sweet – including Mixed Berry Crepes with Ginger and Mascarpone, and Bittersweet Chocolate Whipped Cream Crepes. The recipes are very clearly written and easy to follow, and the foundation given in the book will help even first time crepe-makers.

The recipes in the book are beautifully illustrated and make the recipes look even more delicious than they sound on their own. The photographs will give you good ideas for plating your crepes and help provide some cues as to what some of the more complicated recipes – such as the Mile-High Crepe Cake – should look like when they’re finished. There are crepes for every occasion and with a book like this in your collection, you’ll find plenty of reasons to make them!

It’s about time a book about crepes was published. The A – Z of crepeville! This one is a keeper! I however only have a palate for the sweet ones. Glad this one’s out!
