- Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were always one of my favorites growing up, and I still love that flavor combination to this day. There are many ways to enjoy it, and one is a batch of Peanut Butter and Jelly Brownies, which Crazy for Crust recently baked. These brownies are topped with swirls of both peanut butter and jelly – elements that you have probably seen swirled separately in brownies, but never together. The peanut butter adds a salty, creaminess that contrasts well with the rich brownie base, while the jelly adds a fruity sweetness. Strawberry, raspberry and even grape are all good flavor choices, but feel free to use any favorite flavor in a batch!
- Another peanut butter recipe comes in the form of The View From Great Island‘s Chunky Peanut Butter Cup Pudding Popsicles. The popsicles start with a vanilla pudding base, for which you can use either homemade vanilla pudding or instant. Peanut butter is stirred into the hot pudding, then the pudding is layered into popsicle molds with a generous amount of chopped up peanut butter cups. These are decadent popsicles, and nothing like the pudding pops that you might have eaten as a kid, but peanut butter lovers might just find a new favorite in this recipe.
- I have always been a fan of buttermilk ice creams and The Little Epicurean’s Espresso Buttermilk Ice Cream sounds just about irresistible. The creamy ice cream has a hint of tang from the buttermilk which gives it lovely refreshing note. It is flavored with instant espresso powder – a fantastic way to add espresso flavor to any baked goods – and served with a sprinkling of cacao nibs and a generous splash of caramel sauce. The flavor is versatile enough to be served alongside chocolate desserts, or eaten in a simple ice cream cone.
- The next time that you want to make a dessert that is a little over-the-top, move Mister Martha‘s Bacon-Kissed Sinful S’mores to the top of your list. The bars definitely have some of the familiar s’mores flavors that you know and love, but they also have some unexpected flavor elements that make them more sophisticated – and more delicious – than the traditional campfire treat. The bars start with a graham cracker shortbread crust, on top of which you’ll find a layer of black pepper-bourbon chocolate ganache. The pepper element in the chocolate ties in perfectly with the candied peppered bacon that sits atop it, and the whole thing is finished with some homemade marshmallow cream that has a touch of both cocoa powder and bourbon in it. No campfire needed.
