Williams Sonoma Pie Basket

Pies are one of the top holiday desserts out there and that means that you are probably going to be transporting pies to various events this holiday season. I know that I often bring pies to holiday parties and get-togethers. Pies are difficult to transport because pie plates tend to be very slippery and the pies themselves tend to be delicate. I can’t count how many times I’ve transported a pie on my lap (while sitting in the passenger seat of a car) because I didn’t want to take any chances of it sliding around in the car.
This Pie Basket from Williams Sonoma may not be the perfect solution to the pie-carrying problem, but it is a very attractive one. The large basket is a beautiful hand-woven wooden basket that allows you to carry two pies in style. The basket is large enough to hold 9 or 10-inch pie plates, and it has a removable wooden shelf inside to make room for two to stack with plenty of head room. Plates won’t slide around on the wood as easily as they might on a plastic surface (like the interior of a common cake carrier), and you can cushion them with a colorful napkin to add to the look. And when it’s not pie season, you can use this as as a picnic basket and fill it with sandwiches, wine and cheese.
