The S’mores Cookbook

S’mores are the kind of treat that is a pleasure when you’re a kid and a guilty pleasure when you’re an adult. The combination of graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow is one that is good in any format and doesn’t require a campfire to make. In The S’mores Cookbook: From S’mores Stuffed French Toast to a S’mores Cheesecake Recipe, Treat Yourself to S’more of Everything, you get to explore just how much you can do with this flavor combination – and you’ll probably be surprised to find that it is quite a lot!
The introduction to the book opens with the history of s’mores and a brief explanation of s’more basics. If you’re not familiar with s’mores, the traditional recipe is made by toasting a marshmallow over a campfire (or other heat source) and sandwiching the hot, melty marshmallow with a piece of chocolate between two graham crackers. The original is certainly always worth eating, but the many variations on the s’more theme are what make this book fun. The rest of the book is divided into chapters by type, including Breakfast S’mores, Cakes & Pies and even Drinks, so you can go from S’more Oatmeal to a S’more-Tini and have s’mores at almost every meal (with a few veggies and whatnot in between, of course).
S’mores are a simple treat and their simplicity is part of their appeal. The book keeps that in mind, as the recipes are concise and easy to follow along with. There are some more elegant s’more variations in the book, including S’more Macarons, but even these few more complex recipes are clearly written and approachable. The book is also loaded with full color photos of every recipe, which will draw you in even if the names of the recipes alone aren’t tempting enough. This is a fun book for anyone with a sweet tooth and will be a huge hit with anyone who is a s’more fan.
