Mobile Foodie Survival Kit

Mobile Foodie Survival Kit
There are times when I have been cooking at the home of a friend or relative and realized that I was lacking some crucial spices for finishing my dish, either because their spice cabinets aren’t as well-stocked as mind or because some of their spices had been sitting on the shelf so long that they lost their flavor. Learning to cook on the fly with what is available is a good skill to have – but sometimes you really just want that oregano or thyme anyway. The Mobile Foodie Survival Kit is a travel-sized kit for foodies and chefs who really want to take all their favorite flavors with them. The kit is great for people who travel a lot, but can also be used as kind of a backup in your own kitchen for times when you might run a little short on a particular spice.

The kit is made up of 13 stackable plastic containers that all have airtight lids to close them. It includes sea salt, black pepper, cayenne, onion, basil, cinnamon, oregano, garlic powder, thyme, curry powder, rosemary, ginger and dill as starter spices, though the containers are unlabeled and can easily be refilled with your preferred spices. Bakers, for instance, might want to turn this into a sweeter kit with cloves, allspice and cardamom in place of some of the herbs. Chefs who prefer a little heat might want to add some different chili powders. Whatever you fill them with, you never know when a little spice will come in handy and that is exactly why this is termed a foodie survival kit:  it helps you make it to that next great meal.
