  • If you are a fan of coconut or cranberries, then 1 Big Bite‘s Cranberry Apple Tart with Coconut Streusel should be on your radar. This lovely tart starts out with a layer of sweet-tart apple slices that are topped off with another sweet-tart layer of homemade cranberry sauce. All this sweet-tart goodness is topped off with a buttery layer of coconut streusel that gives the tart a beautiful finished look and adds just enough sweetness to tie everything together well. This is a dessert that you could easily bring to a holiday party – but it is easy enough to make that it could also be a casual treat that you enjoy at home.
  • The Spice Brown Butter Waffles that Ambrosia Baking tried are a fantastic weekend breakfast option when the weather is cold. Browned butter is the main flavor here, and it not only makes for waffles that are light and tender, but waffles that are extremely addictive once you’ve had the first bite. Cinnamon and nutmeg add a little spice to the batter, complimenting the nutty browned butter. These waffles are good when topped with maple syrup, but some caramelized pear or apple slices could dress them up even more.
  • Although it is the season for Christmas cookies, no one would be disappointed to see a batch of Gingerbread-Pear Cupcakes appear at the table during a holiday gathering. These cupcakes, from The Culinary Chronicles, have a great blend of cinnamon, cloves, black pepper and nutmeg that compliment the molasses very well for a classic gingerbread flavor. Grated fresh ginger gives these some pop and makes them stand out a bit more. Chopped fresh pears are inside the cupcake, and they’re topped off with a spiced cream cheese frosting that features some of the same flavors that are in the cakes.
  • The Braided Spaghetti Bread that Love Bake Enjoy recently looks like a fairly ordinary bread from the outside. Once you cut into it, however, you’ll see that this bread is a meal in itself because it is full of spaghetti, sauce and mozzarella cheese! To make it, you basically roll out some bread dough – any kind you like – into a large rectangle, spread a layer of pre-cooked spaghetti and cheese down the center and braid up the bread around it. It helps if your spaghetti is well-cooled, so it doesn’t move around too much as you try to braid. Everything will be piping hot and the cheese will be nicely melted when the bread comes out of the oven after baking.
  • Meaningful Eats has been on a hunt for a good chocolate chip cookie recipe that called for almond flour instead of all purpose flour, and after many tries, hit upon a very good Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. The cookies are slightly crisp on the outside and pleasantly chewy on the inside, just like a good chocolate chip cookie should be. They’re packed with lots of chocolate chips, but some walnuts are included for crunch. If you want to emphasize the almond element more, you could try adding chopped or slivered almonds to the cookies for a little twist.
