3D Skeleton in Coffin Pan

There are lots of options for making a creepy cake for Halloween. You can keep things simple, adding just a few spooky frosting spiders or pumpkins to the top of a plain cake. You can also make something elaborate, sculpting cake into a three dimensional monster. Wilton’s Skeleton in Casket 3-D Pan bridges the gap between these two extremes, allowing you to easily make a scary, 3D Halloween cake that is sure to be a showstopper. The cake pan is designed in the shape of a coffin, with a skeleton emerging from the top of it. It’s a very unique design and eliminates any sculpting that would normally have to go into a cake like this one.

There is a lot of detail in this pan design, so even though it has a nonstick interior, it is still a good idea to grease and flour it before baking to ensure that you get every piece of bone in the finished cake. But in the event that you leave a bone – or a piece of one – behind, you can always patch up any gaps when you frost the cake, since the best way to highlight the skeleton is to give him a light coating of royal icing or buttercream to make him pop. Or, you could use some fondant to shape some clothes and turn that skeleton into a vampire or a zombie!
